GOODNIGHT, NEIGHBOR
Buenas noches, vecino
The building remembers what everyone tried to bury.
Dark comedy / Supernatural horror / Social thriller
Feature film in development · Argentina
Written by Martín Ariel Méndez & Martina Santolo
Directed by Martín Ariel Méndez
When strange events begin haunting only their apartment, the building’s sole tenants accidentally disturb a buried history, awakening a nightmare that spreads through every floor.
What begins as a ghost story becomes a darkly funny collapse of coexistence: owners, tenants, neighbors, patrols, meetings, rules, and fear.
The project
Set almost entirely inside a Buenos Aires apartment building, the film follows a haunting that spreads from one home into every floor, turning domestic routines into protocols, neighbors into patrols, and a residents’ assembly into a paranoid tribunal.
It begins as supernatural horror, but slowly reveals something stranger: a social organism collapsing under ownership, rent anxiety, family tension, bureaucracy, and control.

Director’s approach
I grew up in apartment buildings. I know their rhythms: neighbors behind walls, elevator politics, silent hierarchies, complaints, gossip, and the strange emotional violence of shared spaces.
My approach is to build horror from ordinary systems: meetings, rules, hallways, families, rent, broken appliances, and the absurd rituals people invent to feel safe.
The result is not solemn horror, but a strange, funny, claustrophobic world where fear turns community into control.
The building remembers.
